Terry Thompson
I started shooting with a panoramic camera in 1990 and fell in love with the wider format. During that period I was the producer for filmmaker Al Giddings. The 14 years I spent working with him were instrumental in developing my sense of color and an eye for capturing high quality images. In 2001, Taos, New Mexico, became home. I wanted to live here so I could photograph the spirit and light of this beautiful region. Whenever possible, my wife Linda and I love to travel beyond New Mexico to some of our other favorite destinations in the West as well.
An important aspect of my work is selling prints for commercial and residential décor applications. I work with many art consultants around the country that make these sales. The process of making these prints starts with capturing the image with a view camera, using medium format film, in order to end up with a large original transparency. After scanning the film, I end up with a digital file that is over 450 MB. This large file size allows me to produce archival pigment ink prints with a very high resolution that can be up to nine feet or more in length. All prints are made on Museo Max watercolor paper which is a 100% cotton rag, acid-free archival paper.
I also do architectural photography and produce images for stock licensing with two stock agencies. Please visit my website to see more examples of my work.
